MORE THAN 150 CHILDREN TOOK PART IN THE IV Mª JOSÉ RIENDA SKIING CUP SPONSORED BY PULEVA
This last weekend Sierra Nevada hosted the IV Mª José Rienda Cup, organised by the Monachil Sierra Nevada Ski Club and sponsored by PULEVA, in which more than 150 children took part, between the ages of 4 and 10, from the ski clubs of Andalucía, Madrid, Castilla y León and Murcia.
PULEVA joins this initiative in order to support the young hopefuls, reinforcing its commitment to promote sport amongst the littlest ones.

IV Mª José Rienda Cup, which was held this last weekend in
Sierra Nevada. Ultimately, the championship brought together more than 150 boys and girls from the ski federations of Andalucía, Madrid, Castilla y León and Murcia.
On Saturday, the winners in the boys Giant Slalom were, in the category of Under 13’s I Raúl Garrido Moreno, in the category of Under 13’s II Jaime Vicente-Arche Martínez; and in the Under 13’s III category the winner was Aaron Fernández Nieto.
The winners on Saturday in the girls Giant Slalom event were, in the category of Under 13’s I Lucía Sánchez Díaz, in the Under 13’s II category Andrea Culebra Romero and in Under 13’s III category the winner was Celia Pérez Álvarez.
On Sunday, the winners in the boys Giant Slalom were, in the category of Infants I Raúl Garrido Moreno, in Infants II Manuel Reina Fatou; and in the Infants III Category, the winner was Aaron Fernández Nieto.
The winners on Sunday in the girls Giant Slalom event were, in the Under 13’s I Marta Vicente-Arche Martínez; in the category of Under 13’s II Andrea Culebras Romero and in the category of Under 13’s III, the winner was Celia Pérez Álvarez.
Awarding of trophies
The large quantity of snow and the high temperatures characterised the competition. Mª José Rienda, the Olympic skier, born and bred and Granada, was present at the competition on Saturday, held at the Granada ski resort. The awards ceremony took place on Sunday at the Monachil Sierra Nevada Ski Club, located in Plaza de Pradollano. During the ceremony, Maxi, the PULEVA mascot was present, animating and enlivening the afternoon for the littlest ones.

María José Rienda, born in Granada, began to ski when she was 9 years of age at the Sierra Nevada ski resort and by the age of 14 she already formed part of the National Ski Team.
The first Olympic Games she took part in were held in Lillehammer (Norway) in 1994 and since then she has taken part in all of them: Nagano (Japan) in 1998, Salt Lake City (USA) in 2002 and Turín (Italy) in 2006. The first World Championships she participated in were those held in Sierra Nevada in 1996. In the Sestriere Championship (Italy) she classified within the top ten in the world.
Thus far in her sporting career, of note is her Olympic Diploma in 2002 in Salt Lake City (USA) and her six victories in the World Cup. In the last ten years she has been amongst the top ten female skiers in the world.
